Low Calorie Line: Rice Cakes

A Remarkable and Appealing Package for Health-Conscious Consumers

The Low Calorie Line Rice Cakes design aims to stand out among local and international competitors with its creative concept. The main goal is to provide consumers with an energetic experience and a healthy image.

The inspiration for this design came from a fusion of two cultures: the vibrant color combination associated with Indian traditional style and the clean and artistic layout design commonly found in European packaging. By combining these influences, the design captures the strong link between India's top rice production and Europe's leading food processing industry.

What sets this design apart are its low-calorie, healthy, fun, and light qualities. The focus was on creating a modern design that allows consumers to connect with the brand and have a positive impact on their well-being. The artistic touch and watercolor splash provide a light and refreshing feeling, while the joyful color combination offers a fun and energetic experience. The white, transparent part reflects a clean and healthy feeling, and the modern, stylish typography with overlays and three languages adds a touch of sophistication.

The design takes into consideration FDA international rules for global exportation purposes, ensuring compliance with regulations. The packaging material used is OPP Matt, and the design is realized through a Horizontal Flow Wrapper with three sealing.

The specifications for the packaging come in two sizes: a big size with dimensions of 90mm x 90mm x 305mm, containing 18 pieces, and a small size measuring 145mm x 30mm x 118mm, containing three pieces.

The Low Calorie Line Rice Cakes are ready-to-eat, healthy, and delicious round crackers made from puffed rice. They can be enjoyed for breakfast or as an afternoon snack. The possibilities for toppings are endless, ranging from salty to sweet.

The project duration for this design was two months, and the product is now available in supermarkets in Lebanon, UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, and Qatar.

The design was based on extensive research, including the product's origin and local and international market trends. The color combination draws inspiration from Indian style, while the modern layout reflects European packaging design. Adobe Photoshop was used to create the splash colors, with different flavors visible in the color variations. The typography smoothly combines three languages with overlapping effects and circles.

The design faced challenges in the delicate printing process on OPP Matt material. Color separation was crucial to achieve strong colors similar to those chosen from the Pantone palette. However, the results were overwhelming, with vibrant colors and unique products on the shelves.

The Low Calorie Line Rice Cakes design has received recognition and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019. This award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
